Numerical Analysis on Liquefaction of Iron Ore Fines under Rolling Motion of Ships Using Microscopic Fluid Coupling Scheme Devised in Discrete Element Method

A numerical simulation is conducted to investigate movement of iron ore fines by ship's rolling motion under saturated condition using the microscopic fluid coupling scheme devised in Discrete Element Method. The solves pore water pressure particle assemblies change void spaces and flows between them. Updated applied related particles around spaces. result shows liquefaction, that is, increases, as begins, effective stress decreases on other hand. Relative increases upper area assembly, also surface moves laterally proceeds, such that, tilts from lateral direction during motion. Further analysis with changing parameters, content needed for safe carriage fines.
